Power and energy management with combined AC/DC system
Combining an AC bus and a DC bus opens up unlimited possibilities for generating, distributing, converting, and storing energy on a ship. The AC bus can power all AC consumers on board while the DC bus handles all DC equipment such as variable-speed thrusters, and each busbar handles power and energy sources of its own power type: engines, gensets, and AC shore connections on the AC busbar, batteries, fuel cells, and DC shore connections on the DC busbar. DEIF iE Convert power converters ensure that the two buses are interlinked and are used to maximum effect.
Every node in the complete power and energy management system (PMS/EMS) can be controlled by a DEIF controller like the iE Marine series, the PPM 300 series, or an AGC 150 Generator Marine. The controllers are interconnected to ensure uninterrupted control and to ensure that the energy sources and buses are combined to supply power in the safest and most energy-efficient way.
DEIF controllers work with both 50 and 60 Hz power. In addition, you can use them with floating frequency systems where the main engine frequency varies between 50 and 60 Hz to save fuel but without disturbing the ship’s electrical network that requires constant voltage and frequency.
In addition to controllers and power converters, DEIF offers a full range of meters, protection relays, bridge instruments, and switchboard equipment – every device you need for a complete AC/DC combination control solution.

WSS 550
Ship navigation relies on accurate, real-time wind data to capture changes in wind speed or direction, helping the crew correct the course or avoid potentially dangerous situations. DEIF’s WSS 550 wind sensor combined with the XDi-N indicator is a cost effective and flexible solution that meets the everyday wind measuring needs of the maritime sector.
WSS 750
Ship navigation relies on accurate, real-time wind data to capture changes in wind speed or direction, helping the crew correct the course or avoid potentially dangerous situations. This is especially true for the harshest marine environments. The DEIF WSS 750 wind sensor combined with the DEIF XDi-N indicator is a cost effective and flexible solution that meets the harshest wind measuring needs of the maritime sector.
